How To Apply For a USA Tax ID

You will need this once your book starts selling.

The easiest way to get a USA Tax ID is to open a free acount with Createspace (an Amazon Print-On-Demand Company). Register the name of your book for future possible paperback printing. Request a Commitment Letter from CreateSpace (there is a link on the site for non-USA authors to do this) .

Attach a Form W-7 to your letter of application and request a TAX ID in respect of the release of royalties. Post the letterof application, Form W-7 and Commitment letter to:

Once your TAX ID has been issued, return to your accounts with CreateSpace, and other USA companies you may have an account with, e.g. Kindle Digital Publishing, Clickbank, etc.,  and fill out the tax information required.

You will also be required to complete and file a copy of the Form W8BEN  with CreateSpace and other companies you have publishing accounts with  in order to allow them to pay royalties to you.
